Yannis Koumentakis
Οn Monday, September 17, 2001, at the Rethymnon Center for Contemporary Art (today Contemporary Art Museum of Crete) the exhibition of the Diaspora artist Yannis Koumentakis from Rethymnon opened, in two art spaces.
The exhibition was hosted in the art space "8" (this space was operating at that time at 8 Heimaras Street - today it houses the CCA Workroom of Fine Arts) and in the great mosque of Ibrahim Han in the Fortezza.
The work of Yannis Koumentakis, whose this was his first exhibition in Greece, moved between the surface and the space, the traces, the points, the words, overturning the relationship between speech and art.
The exhibition was curated by the Italian theorist Guido Curto.
Yannis Koumentakis lives and works in Turin as an architect, implementing public and private buildings of cultural use. At the same time, he has presented his works in several individual exhibitions in Italy and the rest of Europe as well as participating in group exhibitions.
The exhibition ran until October 30, 2001.
