Report on Nikos Kazantzakis
Thirty Cretan artists are inspired by the work and the personality of Nikos Kazantzakis…
On Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 20:00, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete opened the exhibition Report on Nikos Kazantzakis.
The invitation was extended jointly with the Rethymnon Local Committee of the International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis, which is also celebrating its 25 years.
The title of the show has borrowed from the writer himself and his emblematic book Report on Greco.
The artists worked in many and varied ways, depending on their media and, above all, on what it is they love in Kazantzakis — be it the force, the flame, the passion, the faith, the love of thinking, the love of bread and the soil, or the highest point anyone can attain: the Awe, the Holy Terror or anything else in the legacy left to us by the great writer and philosopher.
The participating artists were:
Theodosia Argyraki-Assargiotaki, Olga Verykaki, Nikos Viskadourakis, Antonis Volanakis, Yorgos Gyparakis, Sophia Datseri, Angeliki Douveri, Michalis Doukoumetzakis, Stella Driyannaki, Calliope Kouklinou, Stella Koukoulaki, Dimitra Koumantaki, Yannis Koumentakis, Marina Maravelaki, Yannis Markantonakis, Lambrini Boviatsou, Constantina Bolieraki, Costas Pagomenos, Eftychis Palikaris, Marios Papoutsakis, Anastasia Petraki, Corina Prevedouraki, Chryssoula Skepetzi, Yannis Stefanakis, Eva Tzagaraki, Dimitrios Tzanis, Vangelis Tzermias, Yannis Tzermias, Zacharias Tsamandouras, Antonakis Christodoulou.
