The Wreck of Serenity – Maria Loizidou

On 26 February 2003 the exhibition "the Wreck of Serenity" featuring works by Maria Loizidou was inaugurated in Athens. It was sponsored by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, and held at the Rethymno Centre. Furthermore, it was first exhibited at the Warehouse of the Artillery and the open area of Fortezza Castle in May 2002.

Thanks to the impression it made and the positive comments received from all the critics of the Athenian press, the exhibition continued its journey in Athens.

The Rethymno Centre was responsible for the performance held at the Varvakios Central Market in Athens, where “the Wreck of Serenity” became one with the migrants.

The aforementioned presentation was financially supported by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture.
