“The Center of Contemporary Art in Strasbourg”
It was so crowded that it was difficult to approach the works of the artists. On Saturday, September 10, the exhibition entitled “INTERACTION” was inaugurated in the halls of Apollonia in Strasbourg.
The exhibition presented until September 30, four female artists: the Greeks Voula Gounela and Chrysi Karadaki and the French Anke Vrijs and Michele Schneider. It was organized by the Center of Contemporary Artistic Creation in collaboration with the European Program of Exchange of new Artists “Apollonia”.
The exhibition constituted the culmination of a “journey” which began three years before in Rethymnon, within the framework of the Program of European Artistic Exchanges. The Center of Contemporary Art of Rethymnon has been one of its active members since 1995.
Anke Vrijs and Michele Schneider came to Rethymnon and were hosted at the Station of the Fine Arts School. There they worked on the theme of the Labyrinth and their work was presented in 2004 by the Center of Contemporary Artistic Creation of Rethymnon. At the same time, Voula Gounela and Chrysi Karadaki were hosted and worked in Strasbourg in the context of the same program.
Representatives of the Ministry of Culture of France and of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs were present. Among them, Mr. François Laquièze-Regional Director of Cultural Affairs and Mr. Jean-Yves Bainier representative of International Affairs. There were also representatives of the Council of Europe, among them Mr. Ioannis Mantzouranis, Press Officer and Mr. Bruno Favel, managing Director of European and International Affairs.
After Strasbourg, the exhibition was presented in three more French cities.
A bilingual (Greek-French) exhibition catalogue was published.
