St Claus's Village
As part of our collaboration with primary education and our prefecture’s schools, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete participates in the charity activities of the 16th Primary School of Rethymnon under the title «Santa’s Village» on the school’s premises on December 13 – 14.
During the event, a specially designed area will host the Artistic Educational programme on the life and work of Lefteris Kanakakis.
This inventively designed construction, made in the context of an earlier educational programme in 1998 and focusing on the Rethymnian artist’s oeuvre as well as his studio, promotes play and expands the children’s perception.
The event is complemented by the screening of a 26-min video from the Museum’s archives with an interview of Lefteris Kanakakis to art journalist Maria Karavia («Eikastika» TV show, Hellenic Radio & Television 1984).
