and Creativity in Education

The Contemporary Art Museum of Crete, the Pedagogic Department of Primary Education of the University of Crete, the Audio and Visual Arts Section of the Ionian University and the Region of Crete-Regional Unit of Rethymnon, organized a festival entitled: New Media Contemporary Art and Creativity in Education “from the October 24to 27, 2018 in Rethymnon.

The Audio and Visual Arts Section of the Ionian University and in particular the Interactive Arts Laboratory –In.Arts, in collaboration with the Pedagogic  Department of Primary Education of the University of Crete, the Advanced Learning Technology Laboratory in Lifelong and Distance Learning, presented artistic-scientific activities setting the targets for future directions and  expansions of interaction   with digital environments.

New courses were sought by this endeavour, new correlations, open and emerging procedures, directly related to the area of education, paving the way for practices for the use of applications in the educational process.

Artistic activities were included in the context of the proposal, combining Audio and Visual Arts in the Digital Age, works of art by students, graduates, PhD candidates and professors of the AVAS as well as lectures and workshops by professors of the University Departments:

In particular, the activities presented evolved around three basic axes:

• Presentation of artistic works
• Lectures
• Workshops

The festival was held at the House of Culture, where there were projections, art works exhibitions and installations by professors and students of the Audio and Visual Arts Section, while the lectures and the workshops were held  at the halls of the  Department of Primary Education within the campus of the University of Rethymnon.
