On Wednesday, May 16, 2018 between 07.00 and 09.00 pm a lecture was given at the Contemporary Art Museum of Crete (32 Messologhiou St.) entitled: Understanding geometric, abstract art.
In the context of the exhibition “A Course for two” of Portalaki and Armaos at the Contemporary Art Museum of Crete, the two basic representatives of geometric abstract art of the 1st half of the 20th century were presented, namely, the Ukrainian Kasimir Malevich (1879-1935) and the Dutch Piet Mondrian (1872-1944).
The presentation focused on the relation between their work and the developments in the science of mathematics and physics at their time and how those influenced the form of their paintings.
